Sustainable Tourism Industry in China

As most developed countries in the world have advocated and started focusing on sustainable development on every industry, developing countries like China also bring the sight into this popular topic.

Recently journalists in China have been discussing on how to make a sustainable development on Chinese tourism industry. Sustainable development in tourism industry includes two parts. First is the sustainable development at tourist places, second is the proposition of continuous education to improve tourists’ travelling responsibilities.

Sustainable development at tourist places requires the managerial group (when they make decisions on tourism development and management) at the tourist places fully consider the sustainable development capability while consuming local tourism resources and impacting on local environment. Proposition of improving tourists’ responsibilities requires the tourist to minimize the impact on the travel place’s environment and also ensure while travel place benefits from tourists spending and travelling activities it can also remain at the original integrity status and being able to be developed sustainably.

Travel is one of the major activities currently for people in China. In China, tourists are numbered about 200,000 in 2009. Researchers anticipate in 2020, China will become the top popular country for travelling and Chinese travellers will become fourth driving force in tourism industry. In each year, travel activity makes huge impact on the environment human beings heavily rely on.

Tourism is an industry, which almost everyone participates in subjectively or objectively. Environment could be impacted by almost every aspect involved in the travel (such as traffic, accommodation, catering and other travel activities). Therefore only sustainable development will keep the environment and travelling places intact at the minimum level, and leave a nice world for our young generation.
