Bicycle-sharing: An Sustainable Urban Traffic Project

In recent years, an urban Bicycle-sharing boom has spread many cities in China, such as Shanghai, Beijing and Sichuan. Some public bicycles were deposited on the urban sidewalks and street corners in these cities, users could locate, pay and unlock these bikes using the smartphone app through bike's GPS system.
bike-sharing schemes as a part of hi-tech boom not only bring economic benefits for entrepreneurs, but also reduce urban traffic-clogged and air pollution.
According to Chinese media, about 250,000 shared bikes have been put into action.

I think Bicycle-sharing is a very great idea to modernization development. It not only is a healthy way to daily traveling of citizen, but also decreases the number of cars on the roads, that could help the issues of environment and transportation.

However, Bicycle-sharing as a budding industry it has to face some challenges. A recent article about Bicycle-sharing in the China Daily warned of “grave maintenance and management challenges”. Only after a short time of use, shared bikes has often suffered damaged of natural and man-made, more serious is, sometimes shared bikes were occupied by unscrupulous users as their own.

In conclusion, although urban Bicycle-sharing project has some problems and challenges in the stage of development, but I believe that it project would bring “mental joy” to users and help their health. Moreover, Bicycle-sharing would contribute to the urban sustainable development.
