Sustainable local community garden

According to Marin
Master Gardeners, "a community garden is any piece of land gardened by a
group of people, utilizing either individual or shared plots on private or
public land".
Community gardens
are being set up throughout Australia and the rest of the world, as people's
needs in the face of urbanization. Community gardens provide people the
opportunity to grow and harvest their own produce as well as contributing to a
sense of community and connection to the environment. It gives local residents the space to grow
their own herbs, fruit and veg, and chat to others about their green ideas. Therefore,
community gardens improve neighborhood and users' health through providing the
venue for labour. It also creates more green patches of vegetables, plants and
flowers for city. Community gardens bring so much more to our city than
home-grown fresh produce:
They help reduce
household waste through composting.
They offer the
chance to get your hands dirty in a communal plot of land.
Residents can
learn about, and use, practical organic gardening methods.
They help save and
protect diverse plants and seeds.
